Abbie Rabinowitz. Retreat Faciliator and Art Instructor
Aloha! I am a fine artist (MFA) and I’m insanely inspired by the Big Island and passionate about sharing my inspiration with others.

I’ve been painting en pleinair landscapes along the Red Road in Hawaii for over 25 years. As an award-winning pleinair landscape painter and experienced instructor, I welcome students of all levels. I will facilitate your experience with encouragement and gentle critique.

Whether you are newbie in pleinair painting or a seasoned artist, I will work with you at a level that is most comfortable for you.

Robin and food
Delicious and well-rounded nutritious meals will once again be provided twice daily by Chef Robin Worley. She is already dreaming up a fabulous fare of omnivore, vegetarian and/or vegan menu options for 2023. The menu will include some old favorites and some new thoughtfully designed, mouth-watering, wholesome dishes created from locally grown organic ingredients.

Robin truly enjoys growing food, as well as creating with locally produced ingredients to offer you an exotic island-style global cuisine. She is an artist herself who works in fashion design and 3-dimensional multi-media art as well as painting, and of course… the Art of Cuisine!

I didn’t know anything about the goddess Pele or the volcano, just that there was this most recent eruption.  That I was so pulled to the lava rock still intrigues me and I’ve been amazed as I’ve researched the event and the mythology of Pele, after the fact of the retreat.  And so, the Tropical Art Retreat experience continues to reveal deep meaning for me, to me, and about me, which is one of the reasons I go on art retreats…to learn more about myself and fall more deeply in love with the unique expression I am. I have continuous gratitude to you for creating this experience and for nurturing us all, body and mind and emotions, along the way.
