Ti Party
It’s hard to choose titles for my paintings but I’m really happy with this one. It was another day where I didn’t stray too far from my house and garden. I’d been working in this garden bed over the last year, slowly adding plants and weeding when I could. The ti plants are common but I love having a variety of ti plants to look at. The sun was shining and it looked festive watching the sunlight reflecting both on and through the ti leaves.
I decided to experiment with watercolors using Yupo paper. Yupo is a nonabsorbent paper that actually allows me to glide the water and paint colors on the surface. It’s also possible to wipe away paint after it’s dry so that the white of the paper is visible again. That makes painting with watercolor very different since the colors ride on top rather than soak into the paper.
The title pretty much explains how I felt that day celebrating the growth of my plants.
