The last couple of days I have been moving to my first sublet home in Hawaii. The last tenant left a few pineapple tops sitting in jars, with the roots beginning the process of forming a new pineapple plant. It’s fascinating to discover the process of life of tropical plants. Pineapples were something I grew up knowing as bite sized pieces that came in cans. Seeing them come out of the ground for the first time was a complete surprise. Now seeing them root steadily in water is another layer of life becoming. I painted it just because its beauty was so simple and it caught my eye.
