Description

I painted Marin Woods during a hike along a trail in Marin County. I walked off the trail into a clearing on a hillside where I could sit and paint comfortably under the shade of trees. The painting is made with strokes of translucent color and overlapping lines that recede in space. I painted this watercolor loosely but with structure, expressing the chaos of branches above me and details of the ground with a fallen tree limb, to suggest the randomness of nature as well as its sense of order.
