It was a gorgeous afternoon and I took my paints to cliff’s edge to paint the late afternoon sunlight on the clouds, ocean and lava cliffs. We call that the ‘golden hour’ when the light is rich and luminous, and afternoon shadows offer a beautiful side light to things. The sea was choppy and exciting to look at, but the wind was stronger than I anticipated. I had to hold onto my paper to keep it from blowing away. I almost lost my painting and sketch book today!
