This painting was done just a few months before the volcanic eruption in 2018 that buried theis beautiful area along the coast of the Big Island. It reminds me how fleeting our moments are and how we take for granted so many gifts in the world.
My friend Eva and I set out to the Warm Pond this morning to swim and wade in the natural, geothermal heated ponds along the Red Road. Weekends are always busy with families and visitors taking time to enjoy the warm and shallow water. I love sketching people in natural poses… with so many models to choose from. This painting captures the relaxed and casual nature of a Sunday afternoon at the Warm Ponds.
I miss this place every day.
