Close Shave captures a moment in my father’s late years when he really needed a helping hand shaving and grooming himself. As he got older my father developed a hand tremor that made shaving particularly difficult. Harold always liked to look dapper, so it pleased him when I started to shave him and pay attention to his personal grooming. This painting captures an intimate moment between my father and our caregiver whom my father allowed and trusted to bathe and help shave him.
