Description
I remember the beautiful day in northern California when I painted this watercolor. It brings back a flood of memories of Harbin Hot Springs, looking across the swimming pool toward the building complex that once graced the hills surrounding the warm pools. I had gotten up early to paint, so this scene was not yet filled with the naked bodies of guests who came to Harbin to enjoy the healing waters and natural sanctuary. The entire retreat went up in smoke in a huge fire less than two years ago. I can only hope this image keeps the memory alive for those of us who can barely wait for Harbin’s lands to heal and for the hot springs to open again.
