Description

How many times can an artist paint the same view? I have painted this particular tree tunnel on the Red Road in Hawaii many times, and each time I still find something new either in view itself or in how I choose to paint it.  The shafts of light from the cathedral of branches above never cease to inspire me. I chose to paint Ghost Rider with rich saturated colors to suggest the bright sunlight glittering through the shaded tunnel, with patterns of brushstrokes leading the viewer into the distance. Finally one day, my good friend Bicycle Dave who rides this route every day by bike, bought this painting right off the easel. You can’t see him but there’s a bicyclist in this painting somewhere.
