Dusk (Sold)

red dotwatercolor, 6″x18″
Sold. Prints available

I waited until late afternoon to catch the golden hour to paint this one just before dusk. The clouds were already glowing yellow, pinks, and rich blues while the ocean reflected a metallic pink and yellow that all too quickly turned to a deep saturated blue as the light waned and the day came to an end. Sunsets and sunrises are so fleeting as the light changes dramatically from one second to the next. It was indeed a race against time capturing the luminous colors of the sky and sea.
