Description

A palm tree leans into the wind near to the waves as a black lava coastline recedes into the distant. I have driven often to this spot off the Red Road along the southeastern coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. The tradewinds are so fresh and one can gaze at the surf while basking in the breeze. When passing rain storms don’t threaten, I grab my painting supplies and drive to this location where I can set up my easel between sand and lava rocks. The breeze, sun, sound of the surf keep me company as I paint this Pacific island paradise.
