I am in awe of nature. While I’ve been painting en pleinair and developing my abstract version of the landscape, I have been tending and growing my own garden full of both ornamental and edible plants here on the Big Island of Hawaii. Both activities are interwoven threads of my creative journey. I have discovered more and more that it’s my job to step out of the way and witness what naturally wants to grow on its own timeline. I had been yearning to paint directly from my garden for a while. Finally, I took my easel and large canvas outdoors to paint directly from the source. It’s a thrill to witness both my garden and my abstract style mature in unison.
