Description

17 Mile Marker Coast. The thing about the lava cliffs along the Puna coastline is that you can paint from them dozen of times and still find something new in them that you didn’t notice before. The colors of the cliffs change near the surf’s edge as they drop below the water surface. Shadows and details on the lava surface shift as the position of the sun shifts. The sharp and craggy edges soften and fade as the cliffs recede into the distance, while the color of the lava becomes a richer black with tinges of cinder red in the near foreground.
