I had passed under the towering mango tree canopy on the Red Road many times and often wondered at the height and beauty of those massive and ancient trees. This painting is as much about the portal and the light beyond, as it is about the large limbs forming an arch above, with the dense foliage of the trees casting their deep shadows below.
