Description

Cadmium #2 was painted en pleinair in the cemetery in Danbury, CT. I found a spot nestled under some trees with peek-a-boo views of a bright blue lake poking through the fall foliage. It was one of those crispy, clear fall days when everything appears in sharp focus with full neon fall colors. Using a palette of pure cadmiums, I painted the leaves as if they were flat shapes in brightly colored camouflage. The action of the painting is the play between the colored leaf pattern in front, and the scene of the blue lake and hill in the distance.
