I don’t have to look too far for another interesting tropical moment to appear. My friend’s fruit orchard includes a small banana grove. The branches of the ‘trees’ form a type of bramble of banana leaf fronds as they crisscross one another, reaching for space and sun. I love how the play of sunlight moves in and between the spaces of the branches. They harvested a group of bananas recently. Did you know they cut the whole banana tree down after they harvest the bananas? I didn’t know that. What is left behind are small shoots that grow up quickly and produce their own banana bundles. The things I’m learning here in the tropics!
