Paradise Studio Tour Reflections: Gratitude, Joy, and New Homes for My Art

What a wonderful Paradise Studio Tour this past weekend turned out to be. Hawaiian Paradise Park was buzzing with energy, creativity, and curious visitors following the map from studio to studio. For me, the best part was meeting so many people — locals, collectors, travelers, and fellow art lovers — who stopped in to look, linger, and talk story.

I’m still glowing from the experience.

At Studio B, where I shared space with the talented Ethel Mann and Margaret Stanton, the weekend unfolded like a celebration of color and community. I loved hearing what drew people to certain pieces — whether it was the shifting light along the Red Road, the deep greens of the jungle, or the way an abstract painting seemed to breathe on its own.

And I’m deeply grateful to the collectors who chose to bring my art into their homes. Saying goodbye to several landscape paintings, watercolors, cards, prints, and a few of my newest abstractions was both thrilling and tender — each piece carries a story, and I’m honored that those stories will continue in new spaces.

There’s something magical about watching people connect with art in person. You never know which piece will resonate, which color will spark a memory, or which brushstroke will feel like home to someone. That’s the beauty of these open studios: the conversations, the surprises, and the shared moments of recognition.

Thank you to everyone who came by, supported local artists, and made this year’s Paradise Studio Tour such a meaningful experience. I’m already feeling inspired for the year ahead — and excited to continue creating work that reflects the vibrant, shifting landscape of Puna and beyond.

The following paintings found new homes at this year’s show!
