Ageless Love  Portraits of my Parents

Acceptance, Affection and Angst of Old Age

I chose to paint something deeply personal to me for my MFA painting thesis.
After moving back home my parents played a large focus in my daily life. My mother and father, both in there 90’s, were still affectionate with each other and were willing to share private moments with me. They were also comfortable posing in the nude for the camera. This series includes paintings of our caregiver as she gently shaves and cares for my father.

These paintings reveal a story about intimacy in old age, the comfort of being cared for, and the vulnerability of losing one’s independence. Several of these paintings are now available for purchase. Click Buy Art to view my online shop.
