Floral Still Lifes ~ click on an image to enlarge Still life as subject matter is a genre that goes as far back as the Middle Ages. I do ask myself as a contemporary artist ~ why choose to paint something so traditional and commonplace as a flower or reflection on a vase? The answer is just that... to find something unique in myself that I can express through the simplicity of the subject. It is a challenge to create a new vison from what has been seen so many times before. |
