Painting and Process
I choose nature and life as a source for my art. Light, shadow, color, fleeting moments, shifting moods and pure beauty inspire me to pick up my brush and convey what I see with line, color and paint.
I love to travel. People, places and things are the stuff of life and the endless source that feeds my artistic vision. I have traveled extensively to over 25 countries. One can trace my path through the drawings and watercolor studies of the places I've been. I paint to observe and for the pleasure of creating, sometimes seriously and other times with humor. I am a skilled portrait artist and caricaturist.
I earned my BFA degree from SUNY College at Purchase and have been painting for well over thirty-five years. I work in a variety of mediums including oils, watercolor, gouache, acrylic, paper maché, and wood. I am currently painting pleinair landscapes, still lifes, and portrait studies in oils. My style combines my love of paint with my passionate and expressive use of color.
I have lived over half my life in the Bay Area where my path has taken me to the San Francisco’s Mission and Haight Ashbury districts, the Sausalito houseboat community, the hills of Marin, streets of Oakland and coast of Santa Cruz.
I show my work in galleries and Open Studios. My work has been included in the di Rosa Collection in Napa Valley.
